Talent Acquisition

The long-term strategic function of finding, attracting, and hiring the skilled individuals an organisation needs to achieve its goals.

Talent acquisition (TA) is a strategic function that encompasses everything from workforce planning and employer branding to sourcing, selection, and onboarding. Unlike traditional recruitment — which tends to be reactive (fill the vacancy) — talent acquisition takes a proactive, long-term view: building pipelines before roles open, developing employer brand awareness, and aligning hiring strategy with business objectives.

Talent acquisition teams typically include sourcers, recruiters, employer brand managers, and recruitment coordinators. In large organisations, TA may also include teams specialised by function (technology TA, leadership TA) or geography (EMEA TA, APAC TA).

For globally distributed organisations, talent acquisition must work across time zones, regulatory environments, and cultural contexts. The ability to hire compliantly in multiple countries — and to present a compelling employer brand that resonates across cultures — is a genuine competitive advantage in the war for global remote talent.
