Compensation Package

The complete set of monetary and non-monetary rewards an employer offers an employee, including salary, bonuses, equity, and benefits.

A compensation package includes everything of financial value that an employer provides to an employee. Base salary is the most visible component, but the total package typically includes performance bonuses, health and dental insurance, pension or retirement contributions, equity (such as stock options), home office stipends, and professional development budgets.

For remote roles, compensation packages often include location-specific elements: some companies pay based on the employee's local cost of living, while others apply a global pay scale. Transparency around compensation — including publishing salary bands — is increasingly expected by candidates and can improve both application rates and trust.

When evaluating a job offer, candidates should look at the full package rather than base salary alone. A role with a lower base but generous equity, strong health coverage, and a generous remote work allowance may represent greater total value than a higher-paying offer with minimal benefits.
