Candidate Experience
The overall impression a job seeker forms of a company based on every interaction throughout the hiring process — from the job listing to the final decision.
Candidate experience encompasses every touchpoint a candidate has with an employer during the recruitment process: the clarity and tone of the job description, the ease of the application, the responsiveness of recruiters, the structure of interviews, and the speed and manner of the final decision — positive or negative.
In a competitive talent market, candidate experience is a significant differentiator. Poor candidate experience leads to withdrawal from the process, negative reviews on Glassdoor, and reputational damage that affects future talent pipelines. Conversely, a positive experience — even for candidates who are not hired — can turn them into brand advocates.
For remote hiring, candidate experience extends to the quality of video interviews, the clarity of async communication, and the use of candidates' time. Respecting candidates' schedules across different time zones is a baseline expectation for distributed hiring teams.
